The Art of Noticing
What happens when we stop asking the world to entertain us and begin paying attention to what is already here?
From The Episode
In This Episode
Attention is one of the quietest forms of love.
To pay attention is to say: I have noticed you.
We live surrounded by invitations to look elsewhere.
Another message.
Another headline.
Another room.
Another possibility.
But attention asks something different of us.
It asks us to remain.
To watch the rain reach the window.
To listen completely when someone speaks.
To read a paragraph twice because the first reading was not enough.
There is no great technique to noticing.
There is only the decision to stop rushing past.
The world is full of things we have not yet seen.
Not because they were hidden.
Because we were moving too quickly.
