From The Episode

In This Episode

Sometimes we choose a book.

Sometimes a book seems to choose us.

We may pass over the same title for years before finally opening it at exactly the right moment. A story that once seemed distant can suddenly become intimate. A character’s struggle can become unexpectedly familiar.

In this episode, we explore the mysterious relationship between books and timing.

Perhaps the meaning of a book is never entirely contained within its pages. It is also shaped by the person reading it, the circumstances surrounding the reading, and the particular moment in which those two things meet.

The same book can become a completely different experience at twenty, forty, or sixty.

And perhaps that is why we return to certain shelves again and again.
