From The Episode

In This Episode

We become accustomed to the things we love.
A particular chair by the window.
The cup we reach for without thinking.
The sound of footsteps in the hallway.
Familiarity has a strange way of making beautiful things invisible.
We imagine that beauty must arrive dramatically — in distant places, extraordinary rooms, unforgettable evenings.
But perhaps beauty is more often domestic than we allow ourselves to believe.
It is the first page of a book turning beneath an open window.
It is afternoon light resting against a wooden table.
It is someone remembering how you take your tea.
The ordinary is not the opposite of beautiful.
Sometimes the ordinary is where beauty has been waiting the longest.
And perhaps the art of living is partly the art of looking again
